Sporting Pride
Background Information
Sporting Pride Community Trust is a newly established Charity ( Jan 2007) building upon and expanding the excellent community development work previously undertaken by Huddersfield Town AFC Football In The Community and Giants In The Community (Rugby League).
Established in 1988 Football In the Community was an unincorporated voluntary organisation managed by a Management Forum.
In 2006 it was decided to bring all the facets of community work under the umbrella of a new Charity – Sporting Pride Community Trust.
The emergence of Every Child Matters ensured the Charity looked closely at the areas of work that it wished to address and ensure that where possible all projects will contribute to:
Children and young people being Safe
Children and young people are Healthy
Children and young people Enjoy and Achieve
Children and young People will have Economic Well being
Children and young people will make a positive contribution.
The Charity, however will not be exclusive to young people but aims to reach all members of the community through its projects. Our aims and objectives are:
To promote any charitable purpose for the general benefit of the community and, in particular, those living and working within a twenty mile radius of stadium way, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing:
(1) to relieve poverty, old age, disablement and economic deprivation with the community
(2) to advance education, including social, physical and vocational training, the provision of training for unemployed persons and adult education within the community
(3) to provide or assist in the provision, in the interests of social welfare, of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation for those within the community who have special need of such facilities;
(4) to promote the health of the community by the provision of facilities for playing football, rugby league and other healthy sports;
(5) to promote good citizenship within the community, and
(6) to promote harmony between persons of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds within the community.
