The Zone Cheerleaders – Biggest Squad in the U.K

This month Huddersfield Town and Giants Cheerleaders reached a milestone in membership.  Since establishing The Zone as their training base, the number of Cheerleaders signed up to the programme has more than doubled. With membership in excess of 200 people.

The Zone is now home to the biggest Cheer Squad in the U.K. This figure supports the establishment of Cheerleading as a sport nationwide, challenging the perception that cheerleading is simply just girls and pom-poms.  

When the National Cheerleaders Association was founded in 1948, cheerleading was "really a sideline attraction to keep the crowd engaged and entertained when the team wasn't doing that well," says coach Zoë Prince. However, following the move to The Zone Dance Studio, the cheerleaders have had access to more modern facilities, which has enabled the previously small squad to grow into the 200 strong team fans can see performing complex stunt and dance routines at Giants and Town matches each week.

The Zone Cheerleaders providing coaching for many different styles of cheerleading, ranging from traditional cheer routines, to the new discipline ‘Street-Cheer’, and even Adults Cheer Fit classes. All squads are always open to new recruits, regardless of previous cheerleading experience or ability.
