OVER 50s GET IN THE ZONE!
The Zone, will be giving 50 pluses an opportunity to learn skills such as how to use a computer and also to get involved in physical activities such as dancing. Sporting Pride Community Trust, the charity which runs The Zone, has diversified its core demographic to include older age groups and not just children and it is hoped that this partnership with Age Concern will be the beginning of a strong partnership with the older population of Kirklees. The launch day for ‘The Zone Plus’ is on Friday 27th June at 11.30am when the public can view the facility and watch demonstrations. There will be a range of activities within the Dance Zone and the Learning Zone followed by food in the luxury café area. The weekly schedule will see Monday sessions in the Learning Zone, where new computer skills can be learned, and Friday sessions will concentrate on dance - from Salsa to new interactive dance mats. Angeline Saunderson, Partnership Manager for The Zone, stated that: “The Zone is a great place where everybody is welcome, and the partnership with Age Concern clearly demonstrates there are no barriers to participating in life long learning and physical activity. We are delighted to be launching these activities, which is hopefully the start of the partnership with the well known charity, Age Concern.” This is also a great partnership for Age Concern; “We are delighted to be involved in partnership with the Zone. At Age Concern we recognize the benefits of staying physically and mentally active, lowering the risk of stress and depression with the added bonus of social enjoyment. So no matter what your age, come along and join us at The Zone as this opportunity is too good to miss!” If you are interested in attending the sessions, please call The Zone on 01484 484134 for more information.
